Packaging And Cold Storage
- Internal Packaging (Standard Loose Pack)
Standard 5 kg loose pack
- Use 300 x 400 mm pulp or plastic trays.
- Use 300 x 400 mm paper inter-sheet between plums and a top tray.
- Use 500 x 800 mm plum HDPE 18 -20 micron shrivel sheet with 48 x 6 mm perforations. Place shrivel sheet in carton and fold over plums from both sides.
- Use a 300 x 400 mm white corrugated sheet (58 g) on top of the folded shrivel sheet.

- Cold Storage
Fruit harvested at firmness between 5kg and 9kg can be stored for 6 weeks at DT (PD-7) regimes and can also be stored at -0,5oC for period of 5 weeks.
- Shrivelling has been detected as a minor problem, especially in warmer climates and on sandy soils
- Recommended to pack all fruit in perforated grape bags (54x2mm) in a standard plum carton (5,25kg).
